Perfect Pick Up Tips

We are so thankful you choose us to work with for your balloon decoration needs! We take pride in what we do and treat your event as if it was our very own! With that being said, here are a few things to keep in mind for your order.

  • Balloons take up space when inflated, therefore be prepared with proper transportation.
  • Consider multiple vehicles or trips, over loading can cause breakage or tangling.
  • If you are sending a helper to pick up the balloons, please have them prepared with proper transportation.
  • Be sure to secure balloons in vehicle by wrapping ribbons around a seat belt or weighted item, they can not escape when doors or windows are opened.
  • We do not suggest putting balloons in the trunk.
  • Do not let any balloons out of the vehicle while driving.
  • Avoid any hot surfaces on your vehicle or anything sharp that could puncture the balloon.
  • Once balloons are picked up, take them directly to your event, do not let them sit in your vehicle.
  • When the order leaves us, it is in perfect condition. With that being said, if a helper is picking up, please ask them to follow the guidelines and treat your order with care.

Weather is unpredictable, just like balloons!  Here are a few tips to keep in mind when dealing with balloons in different seasons.

Spring & Summer

  • It is best to put out balloons right before your event, because helium expands in the heat and balloons could pop more easily.
  • Keep balloons away from hot metal surfaces.
  • Hi-Float does not protect or make the latex last longer in hot weather.
  • If balloons get wet and droopy from rain, shake them off and once dry they will float again.

Fall & Winter

  • Cold weather makes mylar balloons contract and look mushy, but once inside they should expand back to normal.
  • Latex balloons do hold up better outside in the colder weather.

  • Always supervise young children around inflated and deflated balloons as they are a potential choking hazard.
  • Properly dispose of balloons when finished.
  • Do not inhale helium from balloons.

  • Hi-Float is a solution we coat the inside of latex with to help them hold in helium up to 25 times longer!
  • Latex with Hi-Float can last up to 5 to 7+ days inside!
  • In order for Hi-Float to work properly, it needs to dry completely. Therefore if Hi-Floated Latex are bagged, they need to be removed from bags and stored in a steady temperature until ready for use.
  • Hi-Float does not protect or make the latex last longer in hot weather.

The Balloon Shoppe is not responsible for any damages once the balloons leave our building. Multiple trips from The Balloon Shoppe to your car for loading is highly suggested to pick up person.

Ultra Hi-Float

What is Ultra Hi-Float?

It’s a patented liquid solution that dries inside latex helium-filled balloons to form a coating that helps hold in the helium.  A single squirt inside the balloon keeps it floating longer – up to 25 times longer!
The optimal float time for latex balloons is 12-16 hours.
When Hi-Float is added to latex, their float time can last 5-7+ days indoors!!
In fact, you can inflate your balloons a day before the party so that you can concentrate on other preparations. No more last-minute decorating!
So do yourself a party favor and get HI-FLOAT today and keep your balloons floating longer!

Day 14

We wanted to show how long latex balloons actually do last with Hi-Float added. So, we blew this balloon tree up on Thursday April 16 at 4:00 pm. We took a picture each day (days we were closed there were no pictures) to show you just how long they can last!
The last picture of the balloons was taken on

Sunday, May 17 at 12:00 pm!

Day 30

The balloons lasted inside for 30 DAYS!
And when they were cut off from the weight, they STILL FLOATED to the ceiling!  Can you believe it!?
Please keep in mind weather and temperature play a part in how it effects the balloons.
The balloons in this experiment have been inside and at a normal & controlled temperature

No Hi-Float Experiment

Day 1 3:45 pm

Here are photos of a latex balloon tree without Hi-Float added. Generally we say that 11-inch latex balloons will float indoors for 12-16 hours.

Day 2 9:30 am

These were blown up at 3:45 pm Saturday and by 9:30 am Sunday they were losing their float.
The balloons lasted only 18 Hours!

*Float times may be reduced significantly if balloons are used outdoors or at elevations higher than sea level.
